Godzilla was a pivotal film for me, becaause I moved away from the pipeline for the first time, and was given free reign to do whatever was needed to get the shot done. No guardrails, no plan so to speak, just figure it out. It was terrifying and deeply rewarding at the same time. It was the first time I really got at act as a ‘Generalist’ and shaped who I would later become, and the work I would seek out.
I also had the honour on this show of learning from some artists who inspire me to this day. Working with them to make the city of Janjira, and being shown their bag-of-tricks when working outside of the box. To round it off nicely, on the large destruction shots everyone came together to do their part. Jumping in with modelling, texturing, look dev and lighting depending what was needed at the time. This film really had it all.
