Jurassic World Rebirth
On this film I was the Supervisor for the Environment and Generalist departments for the US and Canada offices. This means overall responsibility for building the envionments in which the action will take place. Our work was based in the key locations for the Cliff Temple - which was primarily shot on a stage and built out with reference shoots and full CG, the Beach Arrival - which was shot on location and augmented with the surorunding islands, the Mangroves - which were almost entirely CG apart from the actors and immediate surroundings, the Escape Boat - shot in a tank and all but the boat was replaced, the Temple Base - the work involved heavily replacing the plate to create a larger water body, Temple Interior - full CG shots to match what was built on set and extend it, as well as one off Generalist shots such as the view up to the clifftops to the temple, the helicoper arrival, and waterfalls and pipes through the jungle.
The rocks the actors are standing on are set, and everything else is Environment work. A mix of projecting reference footage onto 3d geo, and full CG replacement.
A full CG shot trying to sit in the world we have established here
Using beautiful reference footage, projected onto 3d geo and then adding the temple mouth in 3d.
Full 3d render of this are we had made for the temple and nest location. A mixture of reference footage being projected onto geo for the back wall, and then the rest if full 3d with matte painting projections on top for realism.
Plate footage augmented with 3d geo and cards for the unique islands for this area.
A generalist shot (one-off). Full CG.
Shot on a stage, everything except the boat is a 3d replacement.
3d Mangrove set - all but the actor and immediate surrounding water is a replacement
This started as a plate shot (done in camera), but the body of water was extended left and right, the foreground replaced, and then the start of the shot has a tilt up that wasn't filmed, so that was a mix of cg, stitching different takes, and mattepainting.
Full CG shot of the temple interior. They did build a stage for the interior of the temple, but this was a new shot that they wanted but didn't shoot.
One of the first shots on the film we worked on. This is 3d in the foreground to create the gap where they are going, and then projections and matte painting for the cliffs and waterfalls.
